Born in 2000, German swimmer-turn-triathlete Rico Bogen stands as one of the youngest among his T100 contracted counterparts.
With a racing resume that notably began in 2018, Rico’s first German Junior National Championship resulted in a respectable 12th place. The next year he completed his first race in the Elite Men category.
Having smashed the short course distance, Bogen switched to Ironman 70.3 in 2023. Throughout the season, he never posted a result below 6th place and culminated his first year competing in middle distance triathlon with a World Championship win - making him the youngest ever Ironman 70.3 world champ - 5 months after his first race of the distance.
Moving onto long distance, Bogen gained a twelfth place result at the Miami T100, and a highly competitive 3rd place in San Francisco after an epic battle with Marten Van Riel and Kyle Smith which Jan Frodeno described as ‘the greatest race he’d seen’.
* New PTO World Ranking System implemented.
