View Standings |
Representing New Zealand as a T100 World Series Wildcard, Smith has established himself as a serious contender across the long course triathlon scene.
Born in Blackburn, UK, he moved to NZ aged 12. An early interest in Triathlon saw him become Aquathlon and Cross Tri World Champion by the time he was a teenager. These successes helped push him towards elite racing.
With a best result being 11th place in the U23 ITU World Championships he entered an Ironman 70.3 while living and working in Taupo where he caught the Triathlon bug after winning his home race. An outstanding switch from Sprint racing to Long Distance, Smith proved the extra miles worked in his favour as he took bronze at his first full Ironman - at home in New Zealand.
With a 2024 season racing under the PTO, the T100 has been Smith's stage to shine. One of three involved in a sprint finish which Jan Frodeno labelled as ‘the greatest in triathlon history’, his run legs are a threat to the pro men who find themselves lining up, and battling out, against him.
