Jodie Stimpson took the field by storm at CHALLENGEMIAMI®, earning victory in the first US event of the 2021 calendar.
The Briton faced off against several of the top 10 in the PTO World Rankings at the Homestead-Miami Speedway venue – #2 Lucy Charles-Barclay, #4 Sarah Crowley, #7 Carrie Lester, #8 Paula Findlay and #9 Skye Moench were all on the start line.
Double Commonwealth Champion Jodie exited the water in fourth place, a minute and a half behind the leading pair of Charles-Barclay and Sara Perez Sala.
A consistent display on two wheels (seventh fastest in the field) kept the 32-year-old in contention.
Jodie then unleashed a sensational 10.5mile run to outpace several of the world’s elite endurance racers.
Her time of 1:00:53 was 39 seconds faster than the next best run split, and it earned her a sensational victory.
“What a day. With a top-class group of women to race against I knew this was going to be a hard race,” Jodie said afterwards.
“To come away with the win, I couldn’t be happier.”
Having defeated a number of the world’s best, Jodie also catapulted her way into consideration for August’s inaugural Collins Cup.
If she can continue her scintillating start to 2021 during the coming months, it would be no surprise to see her earn a Team Europe berth at the landmark event.
These are the ‘Weapons of Choice’ she will do battle with in an effort to qualify for the festival of triathlon at Šamorín.
