Brisbane-born, T100 contracted athlete Ashleigh Gentle kick started her triathlon career through the galvanisation of her favourite sports.
Now, one of the most consistent competitors triathlon has ever seen, Gentle has built a reputation for storming past her rivals in the final discipline, as she has become one of the fastest runners in women’s triathlon.
Age group world number two aged 16, Gentle has seen epic success in junior, middle and now long distance triathlon. Still a teenager at the 2010 ITU World Championships, she ‘turns silver into gold’ taking victory over one minute ahead of second place. Ashleigh became an elite triathlete by 2011 and in the same year, secured her first ITU Elite world cup win. After a blockbuster season, Gentle finished within top ten in the 2011 WTS standings.
A 2018 commonwealth games Mixed Relay win on home soil saw the Australian team which included Gentle, sprint finish to first in the Gold Coast.
Ashleigh claimed victory at her first pro Ironman 70.3 in Xiamen in 2019, notching up a host of top 4 results for the following four years.
After a successful 2023, Gentle completed the season with a win at the women’s PTO Asian Open and a second place position in the PTO US Open, one year on from winning the same race in 2022.
Finishing second in the PTO rankings at the end of 2023, Gentle graced the podium at every PTO race she completed in that year. A spectacular string of performances earned her a spot on the 2024 T100 contracted list of 20 athletes in its inaugural series.
* New PTO World Ranking System implemented.
