Weapon of Choice || Lisa Becharas

Lisa Becharas’ promising start to 2021 continued at IRONMAN 70.3 Texas as she claimed a commendable eighth-place finish.

The budding American star has gradually grown accustomed to elite professional racing since her debut in 2018, and her results so far in 2021 have been a testament to that progress.

Becharas, who is currently #19 in the Team USA rankings for the rescheduled Collins Cup, had earlier finished 11th at CHALLENGEMIAMI in March after a solid all-round performance.

The following month brought another laudable result in Texas as she claimed a top-10 finish with an assured display.

Lisa clocked the third fastest time of the day for the bike leg at 2:17:25, beaten only by Kimberley Morrison and race winner Skye Moench.

Becharas crossed the finish line in 4:20:10 in Texas, just over two minutes behind triathlon veteran and serial 70.3 race winner Jackie Hering.

She was understandably delighted with her performance and thanked Hering for her words of motivation in the closing stages of the race.

“I am so stoked on 8th place at Texas 70.3!” she posted on social media after the race.

“Proud of how far I’ve come and the effort I put in today! Congrats to @skyemoench for the win and absolutely drilling the bike! I tried to keep up!

“Thanks for giving me a pep talk with 3 miles to go @jackiemhering! I love this sport, racing with these badass ladies and building my dream!

“Thank you for all the cheers out there! I wish I could personally thank you all!”

Lisa will be hoping to continue on her upward trajectory over the rest of year, with the prospect of securing a place with Team USA for the Collins Cup still within reach.
