Andy Potts continues to thrive in elite triathlon some 17 years after competing at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
The 44-year-old American continues to compete with the world’s finest on a regular basis, and will be eager to impress again during the 2021 season.
Andy has competed in more than 200 endurance races – winning more than 50 of them – and is a four-time USAT Triathlete of the Year.
His greatest accomplishment to date is victory at the 2007 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice – one of 30 successes to date on the 70.3 circuit.
Eight victories at full distance also adorn Andy’s illustrious resumé, quite simply few have matched the levels he has so consistently attained.
A sub-24-minute swim put the triathlon legend in close proximity of the leaders in the recent PTO 2020 Championship at CHALLENGEDAYTONA®. He then maintained his performance through the bike stage to be positioned on the edge of the top 20 after T2.
A 01:04:35 run split then almost secured Andy a share of the landmark $1,150,000 prize pool, as he eventually finished in 22nd place.
“Who knew that going around and around in circles could make you so happy,” he posted on social media after the race.
“Thanks @professionaltriathletesorg and @challengedaytona for setting up a great day and a great event!”
