Annabel Luxford
Annabel Luxford, or ‘Bella’ as she is also known, would be perfectly placed to pen her own profile for this website...
For Aussie star Luxford not only competes as an elite-level triathlete, she also has a role as a digital content strategist with the National Australia Bank in Melbourne.
While that writing skillset has come to the fore more in recent years, Annabel has been a top-level triathlete for much longer than that. More than 15 years to be precise.
During that time, she has competed at Commonwealth Games, World Championships (she was ITU U23 World Champion in 2004) and at the biggest events over the longer distances during more recent years.
That debut 2004 season remains her most golden memory in the sport, as she competed at the very top level in the middle of a hot French summer.
Her impressive roll of honour now includes more than 20 victories in 70.3 and Challenge races along with more than 20 podiums at ITU World Cup events. She took bronze at the 2018 ITU Long Distance World Championship in Denmark, and another bronze at the 2013 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.
To top it all off Luxford has performed with great credit at what is the pinnacle for many triathletes, the World Championship at Kona in Hawaii.
After coming close to breaking into the top 10 in her debut on the Big Island in 2015 (she finished 12th), Annabel finally did so two years later with a superb performance to claim ninth in 2017.
Luxford is extremely passionate about climate change, while her least favourite part of triathlon is the fact it’s difficult to feel great during any one of the disciplines when you are doing all three
