Lisa Huetthaler
Lisa Huetthaler produces exceptional performances year after year across the various triathlon formats, showcasing her elite talent.
Huetthaler is a serial 70.3 IRONMAN event winner, a three-time TRISTAR 111 victor and has won multiple triathlon events at both the Sprint and Olympic distances. The talented all-rounder's biggest dream, however, is a podium place at a World Championship.
She favours the bike and run more than the swimming discipline, stating she is much more confident training and racing on land than in the water. She does though list swimmer Ian Thorpe among her sporting idols along with alpine skier Askel Lund Svindal.
In terms of favourite races, Lisa plumps for Challenge Austria and Mallorca as the events which she most looks forward to.
Lisa’s first steps into triathlon came after school as she searched in vain for the right sporting discipline for her, and you have to believe she chose extremely wisely with the continued success she has had in the sport.
Away from the pressure of elite sporting competition, Lisa enjoys spending time in the Austrian mountains skiing, and she says she can’t live without her iPhone. Her favourite cheat meal is Wiener Schnitzel with fries, and she enjoys training at home in Carinthia.
Every day for Lisa begins with a coffee, which she must consume in bed, and she gets herself pumped up for training and races with the Kavinsky tune Roadgame. Her favourite holiday location is Italy, because of the people and of course the great coffee!
Her advice to budding triathletes is to “make the best of every session, even though you might feel horrible during it. Never give up your mind although your body may shut down. Just do it and enjoy that you have the best job in the world.”
